2009 Personal Goals

I'm getting an early jump on these "new years resolutions" this year, and I'm going to commit myself to putting them in "writing." Apparently those of us who put goals in writing are 8times more likely to actually follow through with them (I just made that statistic up, like 95% of the statistics I actually quote, yes 95% was made up too).

Here they are in no specific order (and this is a pretty fluid list, I'll be updating them as the year goes on, as well as the progress towards them. Hopefully I can shame myself into accomplishing them before 09 goes away and then 010 (is that how you say it?) is here. Some of these are accomplishable (I can check the box when they are finished), some of these are Dr. Phil wholesome type goals and hopefully I will see them written down and try to do them.

- Take more pictures
- Be a better brother/friend/boyfriend
- Host a dinner party
- Take and pass the OK Bar Exam and the MPRE
- Save $10,000 by the end of 2009
- Bench press 250 3x.
- Dunk a basketball (again).
- See at least 10 new cities (and take pictures once I'm there)
- Try 10 new kinds of beer
- Watch a Longhorn football game in person (damn you Ike)
- Get SCUBA certified
- Shoot below 110 over 18 holes
- Do a better job picking up my laundry
- Read at least 12 books for pleasure

What not to do

Don't come in and turn your thermostat to "off" at night. It will be 40 in your house when you wake up 9 hours later. I do not like where this winter is taking me.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to the internet Mr. Oliver. It's been about 3 years since I took down my formerly interesting 1st year of law school blog. It seemed like all the bloggers I used to read have gone away. Too busy with their law careers. Too oppressed by "the man". Part of me wants to get back into writing more, ok, make that start writing. Less XBOX (damn you Call of Duty 4), and more writing, reading (Currently: Made in America by Sam Walton). Soon to be studying for the Oklahoma Bar exam in February, followed a week later by the MPRE on March 7th.

For those who don't really keep track via facebook (seriously, wtf are you doing). I'm living in Bartlesville, OK, working for ConocoPhillips as an Export Compliance Analyst. I've been here since I graduated in May.
