2 Cd's that changed the landscape of modern music:
Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Master P - Ghetto D
Anyone out there who reads this and disagrees, I've got a jimmy-joke about your momma that you might not like.

Music
I just discovered that my XBOX 360 can play music that is stored on my laptop through my TV. This is an awesome development because a) I have an excuse to buy a Harmony remote, b) I have an excuse to buy a decent surround sound system (Sony sound bar anyone?), and c) I can listen to more music.
I've been unearthing some old favorites (Aerosmith - Rocks; what a kick ass CD!!) and some new goodies (Kanye - 808's and heartbreaks). Love locked down will forever remind me of the VS fashion show. Heidi, I am still professing my ever dying love for you. It's ok you're married. I'd violate my no married chicks clause, and you've got 3 kids, whatever. The -2 per kid rule doesn't apply to you. You'd still be a 9 since you started at a 15. Come to me Heidi, I watch Project Runway, we can make better decisions (although the last season I watched Christian won and it was well deserved, he was Fierce!).
In other music news, I am saddened that Meridian West is still on the splits. Check their myspace, I think it's still up. One more kick ass Austin band dies.

Food Review: La Pizza Nostra
I'm the kind of person that Malcolm Gladwell talks about in his book Tipping Point. The one who tells everyone he knows about something when it bothers him. Today I'm taking that principal and maybe going a little overboard. I am posting the below review on EVERY food review website I can possibly find. I don't go out to eat often and when I do I expect 2 things, good food and good service. One of the two is OK, however when both are lacking my dollars are better spent buying a Hot Pocket and eating it infront of my computer/TV.
This is my second straight bad experience with Pizza Nostra, and I'm happy to say that it will be my last. 4 weeks ago I took my girlfriend (who lives out of town) to LPN on a date. We sit down, order, get some cheese sticks, everything is great.... except the wait. 20, 30, 40 minutes pass after we have placed our order. Finally, I flag down the waitress and ask her what the hold up is.... they were out of pizza crust. We were a little upset it took them 40 minutes after we placed the order to notify us, but they made it ok by letting us eat free (we ordered some pastas, and they were decent).
Today (1/15/09) we went to LPN for a co-worker's birthday. It took several minutes to ask for our drink order (they were slightly busy for lunch), but then took upwards of 30 minutes for a pizza and a sandwich. The sandwich, came about 5 minutes after the pizza was delivered; and happened to be for the co-worker whose birthday we were celebrating. To top it off they were out of lemons, the pizza was not hot, and she refused to split the check, claiming that the medium pizza that we had split, had to be put all on one card.
I can thankfully say that this will be my last experience with LPN, and had rather heat up a Tombstone than waste my time and money on sub-par service and mediocre food.

Those Less Fortunate
Let me preface this with a disclaimer, I'm not trying to be a jerk and I'm not trying to be holier than thou.
Sometimes people get dealt bad hands, not in poker, but in life. Not only do some people get dealt bad hands, but some people often make bad choices that lead to it. The woman in front of me in line at Wal-Mart tonight. She couldn't have been more than 25. She had an infant in the buggy, and paid for her food in 4 transactions of food stamps. I don't know what chances her son has in life of growing up and breaking free of his parents current lifestyles. I stood there in line behind her, and watched as she broke all of her items down so they would be covered by the food stamps. I couldn't help but wonder what life choices she had made to wind up a mother (single mother from what I could gather) and on food stamps.
I've been thinking about it all evening. I cooked dinner, sat at my table, looked around and thought of how fortunate I am.

Congratulations
To the 2008-09 Texas Longhorns. The second best Longhorn team I've ever witnessed.
Colt isn't as good as Vince, but Quan is better than Roy. Hook'em.

My favorite things
Few things make me happier than a super sharp knife cutting some food I just cooked.
Back to the Grind
Tomorrow, the first day back for everyone, the second day of the 2009 work year. It'll be good to get back in a routine. Seeing familiar faces around the office, learning about the number of layoffs we will be having (hopefully I'm safe), getting back in the gym, hearing everyone's NYE stories, people being in their offices to return phone calls, ect.
In other news, tomorrow night I'll be cheering on my Longhorns versus Ohio State. Hook'em
